Siri AI Opens to All Developers: Any App Can Plug Into the Voice Assistant

AI information • Admin • • 21 views

On November 3, 2026, Apple announced in a developer notice that Siri AI is now open to all developers, and any app can bring its own content and actions into Siri AI through App Intents. The move turns Siri AI from an assistant for Apple's own apps into an entry point every app can call on, with developers no longer waiting for Apple to define categories, while ordinary users must wait for it to actually arrive with a system update.

What developers can now have Siri AI do for their apps

Until now, Siri AI only supported a limited set of categories defined by Apple, and what third-party apps could do was Apple's call. After this opening, developers can decide for themselves which content and actions to expose, and Siri AI can act on them using personal context, on-screen information, and natural-language understanding — checking a delivery, booking a restaurant, or placing an order, for example. Apple has also added skills, letting developers chain several actions into a single experience so that one spoken request can finish a multi-step task. Xcode now includes a Siri Integration Advisor that offers integration advice, and the Siri Evaluations framework lets developers script requests and repeatedly test how Siri AI performs after changes.

How long users must wait, and who still cannot use it

Developers get the opening first: the preview ships only with the first betas of iOS 27.3, iPadOS 27.3, macOS 27.3, and visionOS 27.3, and it works only in developers' own builds and internal TestFlight testing — external testers and App Store versions cannot use it yet. Apple says the features will first reach users in a few months, with App Store submissions opening in the spring. The same betas also bring new Siri AI actions to 15 of Apple's own apps, covering Calendar, Files, Mail, Maps, Messages, Photos, and Shortcuts, among others. Language and regional limits remain: English, French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish are supported now, with Traditional Chinese, Norwegian, Turkish, and Vietnamese to follow; users under 13 cannot use it, and EU users remain excluded on iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch, just as EU users were left out when version 27.2 added five languages.

For developers, the current window is for trial and error: connect the most frequent actions first and test multi-step combinations before the submission channel opens. For users, there is only one test that matters — whether, in the first batch of apps this spring, Siri AI really means fewer taps and a job actually finished. Apple has not yet published the usage terms for this integration, and the boundaries of permissions and review remain to be confirmed in a later announcement.
