Apple HomeView Debuts: A $299 Smart Display That Brings Siri AI Into the Living Room

Apple HomeView was introduced by Apple in a Newsroom press release on October 13, 2026. It is a smart home hub built around a 7-inch Liquid Retina display, priced at $299, with pre-orders opening the same day in Australia, Canada, India, New Zealand, the UK and the US, availability from November 13, a wall-mounted version at the same price, and Singapore pre-orders from October 15. What sets it apart from earlier smart speakers is that it combines a screen, face recognition and the new Siri AI in one device: not another speaker, but a shared household entry point that still knows who is standing in front of it.

One device, six personal spaces

HomeView can recognize up to six household members by face and switch to each person's own home screen. Personal content such as Messages, Calendar and Reminders is not exposed just because the device is shared: it appears only when the enrolled user is recognized and their paired iPhone or iPad is nearby and was recently unlocked. Shared albums and music stay open to everyone. The 7-inch display sits on a domed speaker base for countertops, or comes in a wall-mounted version for entryways and hallways; brightness ranges from 500 nits down to 0.3 nits, gentle enough for a nightstand.

Siri AI is the brain of this hub

HomeView runs a new Siri AI powered by Apple Intelligence, with more natural conversation and onscreen awareness. Paired with an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone or iPad, it can draw on personal context such as Calendar and Messages for more personal answers, and a conversation started on HomeView can continue in the Siri app across iPhone, iPad and Mac. People without a compatible device still get Siri AI's world knowledge and natural conversation, just without the personal-context layer.

Privacy handled at the silicon level

HomeView carries an A18 chip, and camera and microphone data are processed inside Secure Exclaves, isolated runtimes separated from the rest of the system, so neither the device software nor Apple can access that data. Siri requests run on device or through Private Cloud Compute, where data is not stored or made accessible to Apple. As a home dashboard it can show up to nine camera feeds at once, work with iCloud+ for end-to-end encrypted recognition of people, pets, packages and vehicles, and detect smoke or carbon monoxide alarm sounds and alert your phone; Spatial Audio, FaceTime with Center Stage and Intercom are all included. Apple also launched the Home Collection line of cameras, thermostats and a lock, developed with LG Electronics and Schneider Electric, on the same day.

The fullest experience still depends on the Apple ecosystem: personal context needs a paired Apple Intelligence device, camera intelligence needs an iCloud+ subscription, and the launch covers only a handful of countries. The real story is that Apple has, for the first time, assembled a screened hub, face-based personal spaces and the new Siri into one complete household device — the smart home contest is shifting from whose speaker sounds best to whose assistant understands the family best.
