Jan is an open-source desktop client that runs text and vision models directly on a personal computer, with an option to switch to cloud endpoints. It imports vision models for local image understanding, screenshot parsing and table recognition, while an experimental auto-tuner fits quantisation and threads to the hardware. On a private network, images and documents stay on the device, so review and batch parsing happen locally.
