Meta's Style Sketch has quietly launched in three markets first, and its selling point is not buying new clothes but recombining the clothes you already own. On 30 October 2026, Engadget reported the launch of the AI fashion app, whose existence was first flagged by social media consultant Matt Navarra on X; TechCrunch also covered it on 29 October.
What it does
Users can connect their Facebook and Instagram accounts to Style Sketch so the app can identify clothes in photos they have already shared and build a virtual closet. They can also upload photos of garments or take new pictures. After picking one item, the app suggests outfits built around it, takes the day's weather or a trip plan into account, and shows combinations on a virtual model matched to body type and skin tone. For people whose closets are full yet who still do not know what to wear, that is closer to a real need than another purchase.
Three limits worth knowing
First, the reach is small: it is currently available only in Indonesia, Singapore and Thailand on Android and iOS, Meta did not respond to requests for comment, and no timetable for a wider rollout has been announced. Second, it is not the first attempt of this kind in the industry: Google's AI search has offered virtual try-on since 2025, and OpenAI recently added a ChatGPT feature for uploading photos to try on clothes, so Style Sketch has to stand out on experience. Third, linking social accounts means handing more personal photos and wardrobe data to a new app, a trade-off worth thinking through first.
Another piece of the small-app strategy
Meta chief executive Mark Zuckerberg said earlier this year that AI has made it much easier to build apps, and that the company would release many more. A few weeks ago, Meta launched the AI pet app Waddle World in the Philippines. Style Sketch follows the same path: validate one concrete scenario in limited markets first, and talk about expansion later. For users, there is only one test that matters: whether its outfit suggestions are genuinely faster and better fitting than opening the closet.
