XREAL AURA goes on sale: what to check before buying the $1,099 Android XR glasses

AI information • Admin • • 12 views

On October 28, 2026, XREAL launched AURA and opened orders at Google's Android Developer Summit: the first wired XR glasses powered by Android XR, priced from $1,099 for the 12GB + 256GB model, with shipping from mid-November.

Developed by XREAL with Google and Qualcomm, AURA's glasses weigh under 95 grams, with a 70-degree field of view, Sony Micro-OLED displays at 1200p and 120Hz, and electrochromic dimming. Compute sits in an external unit running Qualcomm's Snapdragon Reality Elite platform, which doubles as a trackpad. Gemini is built in, and Google Play apps plus more than 150 made-for-XR experiences are available from day one.

The wired design is a trade-off

Moving compute off the face makes the glasses lighter, but adds a cable and a unit to carry. Dimming the lenses suits movie viewing; left clear, they keep the room visible. Wired mirroring over USB-C can turn a laptop or handheld console into a large private screen. Prices and release dates for accessories such as the GameSir controller and folding keyboard have not been announced.

Orders opened on October 28 in the United States, Canada and South Korea, with Japan following on November 2; $1,099 is a launch price running through the end of the year. The $200 gap between the two configurations buys more memory and storage. AURA suits early adopters who want to try Android XR, big-screen viewing and on-the-go Gemini answers. Expecting it to replace everyday glasses or a main work display is premature.
