When a discount code from AI does not work, do not keep trying it over and over — repeated failed attempts can trigger a merchant's risk controls. First check three things: whether the code is still within its validity period, whether it applies to the items and amount you are buying, and whether it is limited to new users or a specific channel. Most "it doesn't work" cases fail on mismatched conditions, not because the code itself is fake.
Check the validity period and scope
Discount codes usually have start and end dates, a minimum spend, eligible categories, and eligible regions. Read the error message on the merchant's checkout page first: it usually says "expired", "not valid for this item", or "minimum amount not reached" — check each point in turn. A code given by AI may come from an old promotion's archive, and once the promotion ends, the code is dead. A first-order-only code will not work for existing customers, and a code limited to one category will not work on other goods.
Re-check through official channels
If the conditions look right and the code still fails, re-check through the merchant's official channels: the promotion page on its website, announcements from official accounts, and discounts automatically shown at checkout. When asking AI to search again, state the product name, purchase region, and today's date, and ask for the source page name and the promotion date. Answers that give only a string of characters and cannot explain where it came from should not be trusted outright.
Do not spend extra money for one code
Buying things you do not need just to reach a minimum spend may cost more than the discount saves. Work out the total first: compare the final price with the code against the final price without bundling, then decide. Pages that ask for login or payment details to "claim a code" need extra care: only act through the merchant's official channels, and do not enter account credentials on pages of unknown origin. If a code comes from an unofficial aggregator page, the chance it has expired is already high; if checking finds nothing, give up instead of trying repeatedly.
A discount code is only one way to save money, and a merchant's own member prices and automatic promotion discounts are often more reliable. Get into the habit of checking at checkout what discount the system calculates automatically before deciding whether to enter a code manually.
