If you've turned on Midjourney's Stealth Mode and someone else still sees your image in the Discord channel, it's usually not Stealth failing, but you've misunderstood its scope. Stealth primarily controls public visibility on Midjourney's website, and it doesn't automatically make your generation process invisible to others in shared Discord channels.
The official Midjourney documentation is straightforward: even if Stealth is enabled, content generated in public channels or shared Discord spaces can still be seen by others in the channel. If you really want to "only see it yourself", you need to change the spawn location to a private scene, such as a private message with a bot, your own private Discord server, or directly in the Create page of the midjourney.com.
So to judge whether it is used correctly, the key is to look at two things:
1. Are you on a Pro or Mega plan with Stealth access?
2. Where you generate your content, whether it's a public channel, a shared server, or a DM/private server/Create page.
There is also a common misconception: some people think that "I have cut the default mode to Stealth, so works that were previously published will automatically become private". This is not true. The official also reminded that switching the default mode only affects new generations after the future, and will not automatically withdraw all previous public works, and you need to manually process the existing public content yourself.
If your real needs are customer drafts, internal concept maps, and reference maps that are not easily seen by others, then the safest thing to do is not to just remember to open Stealth, but to use "Stealth + Private Spawn Location" together. If you only open one of them, there will still be a hole in privacy.
In addition, the image itself that you upload to Discord as a reference image should also be operated in a private space as much as possible. Because you upload a reference image in a shared channel, others may not be able to see your website gallery, but they may see the original image material you send first.
In a word, Stealth is not a full-scene stealth, it mainly manages public displays on the Midjourney website. If you still post a picture in a shared Discord channel, others can see it, it is within the rules, not a broken function.
