Why can others see Midjourney's works? Because it defaults to open-by-default. Midjourney's official "Keeping Your Creations Private" makes it clear: even if you create in a private chat or private Discord server, your work may appear on the Explore page. If you really want to be private, you need to turn on Stealth mode. The official instructions are here: Keeping Your Creations Private and Stealth Mode.
What exactly does Stealth mode solve
Stealth mode allows you to hide your work on the site, but only if you have a Pro or Mega plan. Midjourney also reminds that the content generated in Discord public channels can still be seen by others, so if you want to be "truly private", it's best to use web Create, Discord private chat, or a private server with Stealth.
The most misunderstood point
- I think that private chats are naturally private, but this is not necessarily.
- I thought there would be no trace of it if I deleted it, but in fact the visibility rules are more complicated.
- I thought that the website and Discord settings were not linked, but in fact they were synchronized.
Therefore, the most important issue in Midjourney's privacy is not whether it is sent or not, but whether the membership level and generation scene you choose really support privacy.
